We will need help backstage during tech rehearsals and performances, as well as front of house help during performances in the form of ushers and concession support.
Our process has changed a little: Everyone, regardless of age, are required to pass criminal background checks to work in the arts center, including volunteer roles. This information is private and will be kept on file with our Human Resources Department.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT REHEARSALS
Rehearsals are designed to be focused, collaborative, and fun while holding high expectations for preparation and behavior.
Here’s what actors can expect:
-
Structured rehearsals: Each rehearsal will have a plan. Everyone is called everyday, and your full focus is expected.
-
Warm-ups & group work: Rehearsals often begin with physical, vocal, or ensemble warm-ups.
-
Learning in layers: We’ll work scenes, music, and choreography separately before putting everything together.
-
Progress over perfection: Mistakes are part of the process. Effort, listening, and growth matter most.
-
Team culture: Theatre is collaborative. Kindness, respect, and support for one another are expected at all times.
Actor expectations:
-
Arrive on time and ready to work.
-
Wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes appropriate for movement.
-
Bring a water bottle, script, and pencil to every rehearsal. We recommend a designated “Rehearsal” bag to keep all items together.
-
Review music, choreography, and notes between rehearsals when assigned.
-
Use phones only during breaks unless otherwise permitted.
PARENT & GUARDIAN FAQ
Do parents need to stay during rehearsals?
No. Parents and guardians may drop off and pick up according to the drop-off and pick-up policy. Rehearsals are closed unless otherwise noted.
What if my child has to miss a rehearsal?
Attendance is very important. If an absence is unavoidable, please notify the production team as early as possible via REMIND or send an email to justin@lawrenceartscenter.org. Excessive absences may affect casting or participation.
Will there be homework?
Yes- actors may be asked to practice music, memorize lines, or review choreography outside of rehearsal. This helps us use rehearsal time efficiently.
What should my child wear to rehearsal?
Actors should wear:
-
Comfortable clothing they can move in
-
Closed-toe shoes
Costume fittings and specialty footwear will be communicated later.
Are snacks allowed?
Water is encouraged. Light snacks may be allowed during breaks, but please avoid messy or allergen-heavy foods. We do encourage everyone to eat lunch before they come.
When will costumes be handled?
Costume measurements happen at the time of auditions. Fittings will happen during rehearsals. There is no costume fee, but performers may be asked to provide basic items such as shoes, tights, or undergarments.
Can families watch rehearsals?
Rehearsals are generally closed. Families are welcome to attend Final Dress Rehearsal during Tech Week.
Is there a livestream option for performances?
No. Due to licensing restrictions, this production will not be livestreamed.
Who should I contact with questions?
General questions can be directed to the Production Team via REMIND. We’re happy to help!
