Lawrence Ballet Theatre & Dance Program Assistant


Liat Roth is a native of St. Louis, Missouri, is a choreographer, dancer, and educator based in Kansas City. She began training under Kathleen Massot and Lisa Nicholas and furthered her education at the St. Louis Ballet, Kansas City Ballet School, Houston Ballet, and Joffrey Ballet School. In 2021, Liat graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance and Choreography and a minor in Visual Art and Communication. While at UMKC, Liat presented choreography in the Symposium of Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship and, in 2021, was chosen to choreograph the Conservatory's commencement performance. She is a dancer with City in Motion Dance Theater and has directed and choreographed several dance films since graduating. In her post graduate work, Liat strives to foster creative intersections between makers of all mediums in the Kansas City and beyond.

Beginning with Intro to Ballet, School of Dance students follow a sequential program in which the syllabus for each level is designed to encourage greater awareness of musicality and coordination as well as increased flexibility and strength.

In this class, students learn the basic techniques of ballet through fundamental movements and begin building their ballet vocabulary. No class Sept. 1.

The adult dance program offers a variety of techniques for first-time dancers as well as those pursuing a lifelong interest in dance. Instructors specifically organize curricula to emphasize progress over perfection and experiencing the joy of dance.

This is an intermediate-level class for those with at least 12 months of prior ballet training. No class Sept. 1.

The Teen Ballet program is specifically designed to introduce students to ballet technique and prepare them developmentally until they are ready to join the sequential ballet program. Geared toward more mature learners, actors, and musical theater students who may have little experience with dance but understand concepts and can work toward self-correction.

This class is for teens who have trained in ballet technique for at least 12 months. Students interested in musical theatre are encouraged to enroll in this class. No class Nov. 26.

Contemporary/Modern offers a blended education in two similar but distinct styles of movement. Students will work creatively to explore improvisation and experimentation, as well as gain experience in codified Modern dance techniques. This class is a prerequisite to Modern III and will set students up for success as they expand their dance training.

Creative Contemporary Movement I[25FA]
