Currently based in Lawrence, KS, and transplanting from the Piedmont area of North Carolina, Brian is a Mestizo artist of Costa Rican descent who explores the gap that is created by the migration of immigrants to the United States. Coming from a family with an ancestral history in an agrarian lifestyle, they use printmaking, textiles, and soft sculpture as a means of reimagining a history that could have been, but never was. Through costume, play, and imaginative illustration, Brian uses a childlike approach as a means of exploring a desired timeline never allowed to them.
