Our Facilities & Curriculum
What is the Teen Artist Co-Op?
Teen Artist Co-Op in Lawrence is a chance for teen artists to explore personal ideas in a relaxed atmosphere while meeting other art-minded teens in three ways: Open Studios, Workshops and Teen Drop-In Studios.
Open Studios
Participants will begin each week with a group check-in led by a mentor artist and then have access to the Arts Center’s professional equipment, tools, and studios. Students can select from ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, metalwork, or more.
Students receive individualized instruction and guidance from mentor-artists to help realize their ideas and build strong studio habits. This is a unique opportunity to experiment with new media, hone a personal style, and create art without the restrictions of a traditional learning environment.
Workshops & Drop-In Studios
Additional learning opportunities are free to Co-Op members and open to all teens to learn new skills and expand their artistic toolbelts. Workshops focus on a single topic like screenprinting or photographing finished artworks, while Drop-In Studios encourage teens to bring a friend to get a taste of all the Arts Center has to offer.
