Pop Up Play Reading! Chris Pendry’s The Last Generation

Join us for a pop-up play reading event in our Black Box Theater. The Last Generation: Three New Plays for (Another) Divisive Election Year will feature three new one-act plays written and directed by Chris Pendry.

  • The Last Generation—Across Europe, multiple cells of the environmental activist organization The Last Generation throw food items on famous paintings to call attention to the climate crisis. This catches the eye of multiple international governments, which seek to take down the organization rather than enact policy to avert the crisis. Part fiction, part transcripts, this play is based on real events.
  • Plastic – In this satirical comedy, social media (micro)influencer Sabrina’s top brand sponsor is a plastic water bottle company. When the president announces a national ban on single-use plastics, Sabrina’s life is turned upside down as she scrambles to keep her sponsorship and tries her hardest to overturn the ban.
  • Hope? – On the night of the 2008 presidential election, a toxic friend group gathers to witness history. As the drinks flow, they confront their political stances and broken relationships, with disastrous consequences.
