Black and White, an eerie silhouette reading Ghosting Lawrence

Join yarn-spinning Ric Averill as he walks you through haunted downtown, assisted by spirits dancing, playing, and singing their way through the rich eerie history of Lawrence. Based on authenticated hauntings, Averill spins a tale of a town transported, burned, scarred, Phoenixed, uplifted and yet still beseiged by ghosts from Quantrill’s Raid through the mid-1900s.

GHOSTING LAWRENCE FAQs:

What are your COVID safety guidelines for this event and what precautions are you taking?

Our storyteller, musician, writer and performer, Ric Averill will be wearing a clear mask with a microphone underneath, so the audience can hear all of the spooky ghosting details.

Even though this event takes place outdoors, we do require all audience members to wear masks.

To learn more about safety guidelines in our building, please check here: https://lawrenceartscenter.org/2020/07/health-and-safety-guidelines-for-phased-reopening/

What should I bring on the tour with me?

The only item that is required for the tour is a mask.

You may consider bringing a small flashlight.

Walking shoes will make this a more enjoyable tour.

What is the path we will travel?

The tour departs from the Lawrence Arts Center at 940 New Hampshire St. Please gather outside the building, next to the stage truck. The tour will make a loop, beginning and ending at the Arts Center. Locations include: Carnegie Building, Senior Center/Fire Station, 8th & Mass., Jefferson’s, Goldmaker’s, The Eldridge Hotel, 7th & Mass.

How Long & How Far Will We Travel?

Ghosting Lawrence is a walking tour, covering 8 blocks, or just over 1 mile of downtown and East Lawrence.  This tour will take approximately 1 hour and 10 mins. We have done our best to consider accessibility for this tour, but due to the infrastructure of historic Lawrence, participants will encounter brick paths and uneven surfaces.
