Application Requirements
  • Dancers ages 10-21 years of age by the start of the intensive and dancing at an intermediate/advanced level with at least two years of prior dance experience.
  • There is no cost to apply for a scholarship. Partial merit scholarships will be awarded to those enrolled in the Senior intensive only.
Online Merit Scholarship Application and Video Audition Checklist
Submission Deadline: March 30
1. To be considered, applicants must complete the online application, write a brief essay and submit a video audition in addition to meeting the intensive’s enrollment requirements by the deadline of March 25, 2025. No exceptions.
2. Applicants should upload their video using youtube.com and mark their video as “unlisted.” This service is free. Include the video URL on your online application.
3. Applicants should dress in ballet attire and wear flat ballet shoes. It is optional for advanced dancers to wear pointe shoes.
4. Video auditions must include following criteria (not to exceed 15 minutes):
A. Applicant stating their first and last name, age, hometown and dance studio
B. Ballet combinations at the barre (one side only):
*Demi and grand plié – in 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th position
*Tendu and dégagé – from either 1st or 5th position
*Grand battlement and a balance in arabesque
C. Ballet combinations in center (one side only):
*Adagio – must include développés, penchés, and promenades
*Pirouettes – must include pirouettes en dedans and en dehors
*Petit allégro – must include changements, jetés, and assemblés.
*Grand allégro – must include grand jetés and grand jeté en tournants.
*Submission is via Google Docs. Online sign-in required.

About Lawrence Dance Intensive

Since 2016, the Lawrence Dance Intensive (LDI) has connected regional dancers with distinguished instructors and guest artists to enrich students’ skills and artistry. This summer, LDI returns to host a series of summer programs for contemporary and ballet dancers ages 10-21 years. Based on a diverse and well-balanced curriculum, this program strives to develop the artists of tomorrow.

No pre-screening or audition is required to attend. Financial Aid is available.
