Auditions | Spring Dance Production: The Last Unicorn

The Last Unicorn will bring the beloved fantasy novel by Peter S. Beagle to life through multiple dance forms. When a unicorn discovers that she may be the last of her kind, she leaves her enchanted forest in search of others. She embarks on a winding journey with unlikely companions and transformative experiences along the way. Join us for a dance performance that will lead you into a world of magic, danger, love, and wonder.

Dancers ages six (first grade) through adults of all ages are invited to audition for The Last Unicorn, an multi-genre dance production directed and choreographed by Paige Patterson with choreography from additional School of Dance Faculty.

How to Audition

• Arrive 30 minutes prior to your audition time.
• Dress wearing appropriate dance attire.
• Applicants should bring all dance shoes they currently own.
• No prepared material is required to audition.
• Youth are required to be actively enrolled in a dance class at any dance studio/school.
• No additional requirements for adults.
• Registration is required by January 8.

Audition Schedule

Saturday, Jan. 16 | General Call

• 10:00 am | 12-18 years old (Grades 6-12) – Equivalent levels Ballet Vb-VII (will include a segment of pointe work); Tap III-IV, Jazz IV, Modern IV
• 12:00 pm | 11-18 years old (Grades 5-12) – Equivalent to Ballet IV-Va (will not include a segment of pointe work), Teens Ballet, Modern II/III, Jazz III, Int. Adv Hip hop
• 2:30 pm | 6-9 years old (Grades 1-2) – Equivalent to Intro to Ballet &  Ballet I, Jazz I, Hip Hop I, Tap I, Creative Contemporary I, Irish I-II
• 3:30 pm | 9-12 years old (Grades 3-6) – Equivalent to Ballet II-III, Jazz II, Tap II/III, Hip Hop II, Contemporary Movement I-II, Chinese Dance, Irish Dance III-V
• 4:30 pm | Adults (ages 18 and up, intermediate/advanced with at least 2 years of experience)

Sunday, Jan. 17 | Select Dancers Only

Rehearsals

Attending all rehearsals is required.

Regular rehearsals will be scheduled on either Fridays (4:30-7 pm), Saturdays (1:45-6 pm), and Sundays (1-5 pm) starting Jan. 22 through March 7.

Full Cast Tech Rehearsals | Monday through Thursday, March 8-11, 4:30-9 pm

Cast Registration Required: 27WSDSPD, $165 participation fee, January 21 required. Financial Aid is available for eligible participants.
