Youth Visual Arts Instructor

The Lawrence Arts Center is seeking Youth Visual Arts Instructors to lead engaging, creative, and inclusive art classes for elementary, middle school, and high school age students. At the Lawrence Arts Center, we believe that art is for everyone and that young people are creative thinkers, artists, and innovators. Our youth visual arts programs provide opportunities for students to explore materials, develop artistic skills, experiment with ideas, and build confidence in a supportive community.

Apply today if you are an artist and/or educator who enjoys working with young people and is passionate about creative learning. Youth instructors should be knowledgeable in their artistic discipline, dependable and organized, and able to create a welcoming classroom environment where students feel encouraged to explore and express themselves. Experience working with elementary, middle school, and high school age students in an educational, artistic, or community setting is preferred.

Youth Visual Arts Instructors are responsible for planning and teaching engaging, age-appropriate classes and workshops; demonstrating artistic techniques and processes; providing encouragement and individualized guidance; adapting instruction to different ages, abilities, and experience levels; and maintaining a safe, respectful, and organized classroom environment.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

This is a contract, part-time position within the Visual Arts Education department. Compensation is $20/hour. Class schedules and hours vary depending on program needs.

Youth instructors may teach classes in areas including drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, mixed media, fibers, sculpture, photography, digital media, and other visual arts disciplines.
