Adult Visual Arts Instructor

The Lawrence Arts Center is seeking Adult Visual Art Instructors on a contract, part-time basis. At the Lawrence Arts Center, we believe that art is for everyone. Our adult visual arts programs create welcoming, accessible spaces where people of all experience levels can explore their creativity, develop artistic skills, and build community. We offer classes and workshops across a wide range of visual arts disciplines, including drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, ceramics, photography, fibers, metals, digital media, and more.

Apply today if you are an experienced visual artist and/or arts educator who enjoys sharing your knowledge, encouraging creative exploration, and working with adult learners. Instructors should be knowledgeable in their artistic discipline, reliable and professional, and committed to creating an inclusive and supportive studio environment. Experience developing original classes, workshops, or community arts programs is preferred.

Adult Visual Arts Instructors are responsible for developing and teaching engaging classes and workshops, providing demonstrations and individualized feedback, adapting instruction to different levels of experience and learning styles, and maintaining a safe, organized, and welcoming studio environment.

We accept applications on a rolling basis. Applications will be reviewed as teaching opportunities become available, and qualified candidates may be contacted when a course, workshop, or other instructional opportunity aligns with their experience and areas of expertise.

This is a contract, part-time position within the Visual Arts Education department. Compensation is $20/hour.

To apply, please fill out the form below or send resume, cover letter, examples or portfolio of artistic work, sample lesson plan or course proposal, and three references to Emily Ritter, Emily@lawrenceartscenter.org.

Applications will be kept on file for consideration for future teaching opportunities.
