Join us in the Main Lobby of the Lawrence Arts Center for a special concert featuring musicians from the KU School of Music.

quartet dutemps started out by performing the renowned Quartet for the End of Time by the French composer Olivier Messiaen. They soon started working on pieces for the same ensemble: clarinet, violin, cello, and piano, by composers such as Viet Cuong and Isaac Santos. Last summer, they traveled to New York City’s Lincoln Center to perform at the Juilliard School, largely sponsored by the Lawrence community!

Violinist Jacob Herling, clarinetist Madeline Echternacht, cellist Zach Ward, and pianist Veerle Winkelmolen first met at the University of Kansas School of Music in September 2024. Hailing from different parts of the world—Kansas, Iowa, South Carolina, and The Netherlands, respectively—they quickly bonded over their shared passion for chamber music.

quartet dutemps presents a concert featuring works by modern and contemporary composers: Toru Takemitsu, Viet Cuong, Bobby Ge, Isaac Santos, Duncan, and their own member Veerle Winkelmolen.
