The Lawrence Arts Center is thrilled to celebrate 30 years of the Souper Bowl, a community favorite event on Saturday, February 7, from 10am-12pm. Since 1996, the Souper Bowl has been held on the Saturday before the big football championship game, bringing artists and community members together to support the arts. Beautiful ceramic bowls handmade by area artists are available for purchase, and art activities will be in the lobby for all ages to enjoy. In the spirit of Buy a Bowl, Fill a Bowl, non-perishable food items will be accepted on behalf of area food bank Just Food, with discounts on bowl purchases given to those who donate items. All proceeds from art sales benefit the arts education program at the Lawrence Arts Center, which reaches approximately 7,500 students per year.
In further celebration of food-themed art, visitors can enjoy displays of platters up for silent auction and prints available for purchase as part of the Arts Center’s Platter Project and Edible Ink exhibitions.
