This program is committed to creating dynamic and innovative work for 0-6 year olds and their caregivers. Utilizing both theatre and dance, these productions are carefully crafted to meet very young children at varying stages of development and to include their families in the process. Featuring several events per year, this program offers both self-guided, performative experiences, as well as seated, interactive performances. In order to best serve our community of very young children, we conduct research for all of our productions through our Play Lab series.
The Play Lab series is a research-based space for very young children and their caregivers to collaborate with artists. Every production in our Theatre and Dance for the Very Young program has an accompanying Play Lab where we experiment with different artistic disciplines like painting, live music, dance, and imaginative exploration. By creating with very young children, we develop work that is inspired by their ideas, movements, and words. As a result, all of our productions are highly interactive and reflect the artistry of our very youngest audience members.
