Summer Youth Theatre Auditions Kick Off New Season

Summer Youth Theatre is gearing up for another amazing season this year with auditions for productions and enrollment open for costuming and tech classes!

This season will feature two traditional productions, Schoolhouse Rock LIVE! Jr. and Little Shop of Horrors, as well as two shows that will be built from the ground up by the students. Our Create, Devise, LIVE! productions are student-led shows where actors will work as an ensemble to devise their own characters and build a unique storyline. This fast-paced, creativity-driven process will result in the premiere of an original, devised play.

SYT is seeking singers, dancers and actors grades 4-12 as well as graduated seniors! The season begins this week with virtual auditions May 1-9, and in-person auditions May 2. Casting will be limited to ensure safe social distancing, and performances will be outside on the beautiful stage in South Park! More information can be found here.

For those with a love of creating the magic behind the scenes, enrollment is open for students in grades 5-12 for costuming and technical theatre. Students who enroll in costuming will get a hands-on experience that explores the art of costuming and will learn the fundamentals of hand and machine sewing, alterations, costume design, and craft work. Our technical theatre enrollees will explore the fundamentals of technical theatre building props, painting, and learning sound, lights, and stage management. They will also run the performances as crew members. Enroll now and learn everything that happens off stage to make each show a success!
