Stop Motion Animation with Olivia Hernandez

Announcing a new class and a new teacher! Meet Olivia Hernandez. She has been working here at the Arts Center for many years and now she is teaching in adult education!

Olivia Hernandez was born in Michigan, and was raised in Miami, FL. Graduating in 2011 with a B.A. in Global Politics from Baker University, she recently graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Art with an emphasis in Expanded Media from the University of Kansas. Olivia marries a multicultural background with many years of art model practice in order to navigate and subsequently process themes of bifurcation, identity, control, physical assertion, emotional dominance, ego and expression of self.

Her class, Stop Motion Picture: Around the World in 30 Seconds, is premiering this fall. In this class, students will embark on the fastest globe-spanning animation adventure in Lawrence! Using stop-motion techniques, students will collaborate to create a playful short animation inspired by the classic adventure novel by Jules Verne.

Stop Motion Picture: Around the World in 30 Seconds – meets on Wednesdays, 9/13 – 11/01 from 6:30-8:30 pm
