School’s Out! Miniatures and Magic in Youth Visual Arts

On February 15th, 21st, and 22nd, school’s out. At the Lawrence Arts Center, we’ve planned elementary classes for the day off, offering thematic art experiences for grades 1st through 5th!  From 9 AM to 4 PM, your student can explore visual arts and theatrical movement while practicing concepts in science, engineering, and mathematics.

Kansas City’s The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures, the World’s Largest Collection of the World’s Smallest Versions of the World’s Largest Things, bins of diminutive dragons at The Toy Store, Bonner Springs’ Moon Marble Company, tiny surprises in plastic bubbles from Royal Crest Lanes…we harbor a local love of the little!

Love undersized collections as much as we do? Miniature Masterpieces is for you! Don’t be fooled, this one-day workshop (shrink ray seminar?) will be packed with petite painting and slight sculptures. Create mini versions of normal sized objects and tiny theatrics in this School’s Out Day with teaching artists Katie Alldritt and Leah Towle.
