Winter/Spring 2022 Semester is in full swing! Check out our upcoming events and important dates below!

 

March 9-11 | No Classes Due to The Sleeping Beauty Production

Reminder that there are still classes for Saturday Session A. These will be the final class showings! Please reach out if you have any questions.

March 11-12 | Performance of The Sleeping Beauty, Spring Ballet Production 7PM

Based on the classic French fairytale by Charles Perrault and set to the beautiful musical score by Tchaikovsky, The Sleeping Beauty ballet returns to the Arts Center main stage. Join us as Princess Aurora is cursed by an evil fairy and doomed to sleep for a hundred years. Safeguarded by the Lilac Fairy, the princess is eventually awakened by the prince who loves her, and a grand celebration ensues. Also look out for a special pre show performance by our very own contemporary movement dance classes!

March 12-25 | Final Session A Classes

When winter session classes come to an end, families and caregivers are invited to attend a final class showing! More details have been provided via email to final session A classes. We hope that this will provide you an opportunity to see what your dancers have been working on in class!

 

March 14-20 | Spring Break

No classes during Spring Break! Enjoy! Reminder that there are still a few makeup classes (you will recieve an email if your class has a makeup scheduled) and the Bridge Master Classes! Check out master class info below. 

 

March 15 & 17 | The Bridge: Master Class with Malashock Dance 

Join us for two FREE Master Classes with Malashock Dance at our newly renovated location: 10th & Mass Studios! This very special master class is for dancers grades 5-12 dancing at an intermediate – advanced level. Space is limited so you need to register ahead of time. Pre-register here

 

March 17 | St. Patrick’s Day/ Irish Parade 

Come see our Lawrence Arts Center Dancers walk in the St. Patricks Day Parade through downtown Lawrence! The parade starts at 1pm.

 

March 21 | Lawrence Dance Intensive Scholarship Video Submission Deadline

March 21st is the last day to submit an online audition for a scholarship to attend the Lawrence Dance Intensive Summer 2022! View application and video audition criteria on the webpage here. Check out more details about the Lawrence Dance Intensive here!

March 26-27 | Tristian Griffin Dance Company Presents The Bridge 

Choreographers John Malashock and Tristian Griffin interweave their experiences, perspectives, and choreographic styles to form a cohesive but contrasting artistic narrative through original dance and music. Equally sharing the conception and creation of The Bridge, this work has been set on members of both Malashock Dance (San Diego) and Tristian Griffin Dance Company (Kansas City). Music by Philip Daniel.

March 27 | Scholarship Auditions for Lawrence Dance Intensive and Carmine Ballere

Our Carmine Ballere and Lawrence Dance Intensive Scholarship Auditions are combined! Join us and audition for a scholarship to attend the Lawrence Dance Intensive Summer Ballet 2022, for the Carmine Ballere scholarship, or both! Please note that if you would like to audition for both LDI and Carmine Ballere, you must fill out both pre-registration forms.

In Person Scholarship Audition: March 27 1-2:30PM

Carmine Ballere Info: Established in 1997, the Carmine Ballere Scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated excellence and commitment to dance. Encouraging the study of ballet and a lifelong devotion to dance, the scholarship covers the cost of four ballet and pointe classes per week, as well as all production and participation fees during Fall 2022/Spring 2023 semesters. The awardees are required to serve as teacher’s assistants for one Preschool/Kinder class per week, and must currently be enrolled in Ballet IV-VII to audition.

Pre-registration is required, and the deadline to register online is March 24. Pre-register here

Lawrence Dance Intensive Info: Join us at the Lawrence Arts Center on February 20th from 1 to 2:30pm to audition for a scholarship to attend LDI 2022! There is no cost to audition for a scholarship. Please register online by February 17th. Only partial merit scholarships to the full intensive will be awarded. Pre-Register here! Check out more details about LDI here

Can’t make the in-person scholarship audition? No worries, you can submit an audition video through March 21st!
