Printmaking Residency

These 12 month Artist in Residence programs are designed to provide a creative and supportive environment in which artists may immerse themselves in creating new work and expanding their own understanding of their medium and other media available at the Arts Center. The residencies are multi-faceted experience that include teaching, community outreach, interaction with other artists, and studio care, and will culminate in an exhibition of new work.

Taro Takizawa
2022/23 Printmaking Artist in Residence

Taro Takizawa is an artist who focuses on printmaking, wall vinyl installations, drawings and 2D designs. He received his BFA with a printmaking emphasis from Central Michigan University in 2011, and an MFA in printmaking from Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts in 2017. Born in Japan, he makes images connecting his experiences in Japan and the U.S. His works contain both western and eastern aesthetics with an appreciation of traditional printmaking processes and mark-making. He is fascinated with blending: the boundaries of contemporary studio practice and traditional processes, printmaking and installations, architecture and crafts, all influenced by traditional Japanese patterns from textile designs.

2021/22 Printmaking Artist in Residence

Rosa Nussbaum is a British/German visual artist who works at the intersection of print, performance and sculpture with an emphasis on interactivity and digital technologies. Her work explores the place where the body touches the institution through the issues of gender and immigration. She holds an MFA in Studio Art, Transmedia from the University of Texas at Austin and a BFA in Print and Time Based Media from Wimbledon College of Arts, University of the Arts, London, UK. She has exhibited internationally including a commission for Glasgow International, Glasgow, Scotland; screening of her piece Maiden Voyage at the Hiroshima MOCA and a solo exhibition Horizonland at Women and their Work Gallery, Austin TX as well as exhibiting her most recent project The Black Stick and the White Stick at the ACC Gallery in Weimar, Germany.
