Prepare to Dance with us this Fall!

The School of Dance is proudly committed to make dance 100 percent accessible to our community. For more than 30 years, the School of Dance’s curriculum has been based on national dance education standards and taught by professionals. Students follow a sequential training program developed to suit age and ability that fosters creativity as well as technique. Focused on developing the artist as well as the art, the School of Dance offers frequent opportunities for performance through numerous and diverse dance productions as well as the pre-professional ballet company, Lawrence Ballet Theatre. Financial assistance applications and scholarship information is available online here, or by visiting the front desk. Consider becoming a member of the Arts Center to receive 10 percent off classes. August 23 | Lawrence Ballet Theatre Company and Carmine Ballere Auditions, 2:30pm – 6:30pm |FREE | Mainstage

Pre-registration is required. Deadline to register online is August 20.

Lawrence Ballet Theatre (LBT) is the resident pre-professional ballet company of the Lawrence Arts Center. Auditions are held each year for company members and apprentices. To be considered for LBT, applicants must attend a formal audition; be equivalent to Ballet IV-VII and between the ages 11-18.

Established in 1997, the Carmine Ballere Scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated excellence and commitment in dance. Encouraging the study of ballet and a lifelong devotion to dance, the scholarship covers the cost of four ballet and pointe classes per week, as well as all production and participation fees during the Fall 2020/Spring 2021 semesters. Awardees are required to serve as teachers’ assistants for one Preschool/Kinder class per week. Dancers must currently be enrolled in Ballet IV-VII to audition.

Applicants will be assigned to a specific one-hour time slot to audition in person, in small groups. Virtual auditions will also be offered. Anyone planning to audition will be required to follow LAC’s Health and Safety Guidelines for Phased Reopening and must complete a COVID-19 self-screening prior to arrival. Visit our site here for information and screening questions. If your answer to any of the screening questions is yes, please stay home and we will make arrangements with you to audition virtually.
