Introducing the 2022-2023 Artists-in-Residence

The Lawrence Arts Center is thrilled to welcome the 2022-2023 Artists-in-Residence to our print and clay studios: Taro Takizawa and Twiggy Boden. Annual residents work in our studios, teaching, doing community outreach and developing new bodies of work. They infuse our building with enthusiasm, extensive skills, and experience in ceramics and printmaking. They bring fresh ideas and new perspectives to our community and help spur conversations about contemporary practices in art and craft.

Taro Takizawa | Printmaking Artist-in-Residence

Taro Takizawa is an artist who focuses on printmaking, wall vinyl installations, drawings and 2D designs. Born in Japan, he makes images connecting his experiences in Japan and the U.S. His works contain western and eastern aesthetics with an appreciation of traditional printmaking processes and mark-making. View Taro’s work on his website or Instagram: @tarotakizawart

Twiggy Boden | Ceramics Artist-in-Residence

Twiggy Boden is a queer interdisciplinary ceramics artist. Raised in the heart of the Midwest and its conservative systems, Twiggy understands feeling lost and unseen. Their art questions gender constructs and performance through sculpture and wearable art, allowing young queer people to defy the constructs that raised them.
