DESCRIPTION:
The Lawrence Arts Center's Downtown Underground Concert Series presents an Evening with Steve Poltz with Jenna & Martin.

With a cult following that includes fellow musicians, regular folks and festival goers who stumble onto his performances, there’s no common denominator to Steve Poltz’s fans. Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and raised in San Diego, Calif., he toured and recorded with The Rugburns, a beloved San Diego band known for their annual sold-out reunion shows.
However, it was his creative collaboration with Jewel that catapulted him into the national spotlight. He co-wrote her multiplatinum hit, "You Were Meant For Me," and continues collaborating with her today. Based in Nashville, Steve has released a captivating solo discography, including albums like "One Left Shoe," "Dreamhouse," "Folk Singer," and "Shine On" in 2019. He's been praised as a witty acoustic troubadour, drawing comparisons to artists like Todd Snider and Jackson Browne. The Associated Press dubbed him "part busker, part Iggy Pop and part Robin Williams, a freewheeling folkie with a quick wit and big heart.” Steve's songwriting prowess has led to collaborations with artists such as Billy Strings, Molly Tuttle, Sierra Hull, Nicki Bluhm, Oliver Wood, and Mojo Nixon. Now, back on the touring circuit, when he visits Lawrence, he'll likely declare – as he always does – "This is the best show I've ever played." And who knows, maybe it will be. Doors open at 7:00 pm, show starts at 7:30 pm. Follow @stevepoltz on Instagram Listen to Steve Poltz on Spotify Ticketing Transparency Policy "Ballin' On A Wednesday" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZ1P774bAGQ OPENING ACT | Jenna & Martin Jenna & Martin are a songwriting duo from Lawrence, KS who create vintage country sounding music collaborating on a genre they call “Cosmic Western”. This music combines classic country sounds, bluegrass techniques, gospel harmonies, and rock rhythms. Martin Farrell Jr. is a hot pickin’ country guitarist and a storyteller with a dusty baritone voice. Jenna Rae is a hardworking songwriter with a sweet and powerful voice full of heart and hurt. They bring a high-spirited, fun performance to every show through insightful lyrics, memorable melodies, and a rockin’ wall of sound.
