DESCRIPTION:<span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">Red tape, red flag, seeing red, painting the town red. What does it mean to represent the color red? Often, we associate the color red with intense emotion or a warning. Other times, we think of flowers, birds, or hearts. The Lawrence Arts Center invites artists to submit artwork that relates to the subject/color “red" which is open to the artist's interpretation. </span> <ul> <li><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">Works must be no larger than 24 inches in any direction, including finished and/or framed works. </span></li> <li><span style="color: #333333;"><b>AI artwork is not permissible.</b></span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">This call for entries encourages both established and emerging artists to submit.</span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">Submissions are open to any medium in the stated size parameters. </span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">Applicants can enter up to 3 pieces for $25. </span></li> <li><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">Artwork chosen to be exhibited is not required to be for sale.</span></li> </ul> <h6><span style="color: #333333;"><b>Our RED juror is <a href="https://www.travismillard.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Travis Millard</a>! </b></span></h6> <figure id="attachment_48335" class="thumbnail wp-captionalignnone"><img class="alignnone size-medium wp-image-48335" src="https://lawrenceartscenter.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/07/TravisSquare-300x300.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="300" /></figure>   <span style="color: #000000;">Travis Millard is an American artist, musician, and founder of Fudge Factory Comics. His work spans over twenty years of self-published zines, gallery exhibitions, and notable commercial projects. Illustrations have appeared in Playboy, The Hollywood Reporter, Mad Magazine, Wired, and many more. Travis’ work has also been featured on record covers for Dinosaur Jr, Kurt Vile, Aesop Rock, The Get Up Kids, and others. Recently, Travis produced & art directed the indie video game “Freedom Finger" ~ a bat$#%! crazy space shooter ~ out now on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.</span> <strong>Prizes:</strong> <span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">First Prize | $1000</span> <span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">Second Prize | $500</span> <span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">Third Prize | $250</span> <span style="color: #333333;"><strong> Application Requirements:</strong></span> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">A maximum of 3 original works may be entered for jurying.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">Submit one JPEG image per piece entered. File size may not exceed 5 MB.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">Finished and framed artwork must be no larger than 24 inches in any direction. Works that exceed the size limit will not be considered.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">Artwork must be sturdy enough for normal handling. </span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">Works must be installation-ready.</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400;" aria-level="1"><span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">Entries must be submitted through the Slideroom portal.</span></li> </ul> <span style="font-weight: 400; color: #333333;">Images of accepted works may be used at the sole discretion of the Lawrence Arts Center for promotional purposes, including, but not limited to, the invitation, website use, or a subsequent year’s prospectus. The image will include artist attribution whenever possible.
