We miss you! Not being surrounded by our creative community has made finding our way through this “new normal” especially difficult. We believe in the power of the arts to sustain our communities and keep us connected, especially in times of difficulty. We recognize this public health crisis as more than an emergency of the medical kind and presents a challenge to all that holds us together.

Therefore, instead of calling it quits during the closure of our building, we’ve decided to embrace our sense of invention and flex our creative muscles by bringing the arts to you through virtual experiences. We invite you to join us on this new adventure.

We are working hard with our teaching artists, resident artists, and staff to bring ways for you to continue to create and engage with visual arts of all forms and disciplines while you are spending quality time at home. Stay tuned as we share short tutorials, demonstrational videos, and some of our favorite online resources, all while we dream up 101 things to do with empty toilet paper rolls. There will also be opportunities to connect with artists, locally & nationally, for virtual studio visits.

We have also decided that every Friday should be a Final Friday! Share your creative endeavors (finished & in-progress creations) by emailing photos to Each week she will highlight works submitted in an online gallery featured on our website.

We invite you to check our website and join our facebook group called LAC Adult Arts throughout the coming weeks for updates.

If you are enrolled in a Spring class, they will begin the week of March 30th. Your instructor(s) will communicate with you this week, if they have not already, regarding how classes will be moving online. These communications will include a class overview and how to access the various online resources that will be provided. Most classes will use various platforms including YouTube, email, and social media platforms to share ideas and information. Additionally most classes will meet online through the video chat app Zoom to share work, ask questions, get demos, and most importantly connect with one another.

Do you need a creative outlet and want to learn more? We have a few spots open in several of our online classes. Email for information regarding openings.

We are flexible, adaptive, and focused on continuing to be a creative center for our community. We hope to emerge from this experience in true Lawrence style; healthy, hardy and better than ever. We’re looking forward to seeing you, in-person, soon.

Until then,
Margaret Weisbrod Morris, CEO and Kyla Strid, Director of Residencies & Adult Education
