October 1 @ 9:00 am - December 17 @ 11:59 pm
Submitting a Proposal
The Theatre and Dance for the Very Young Virtual Conference is open to a variety of proposal topics and styles focusing on Theatre and Dance for the Very Young performances, the early childhood classroom, and any research pertaining to the very young experience. We welcome applications from artists, educators, performers, directors, visual artists, designers, musicians, scholars, students, and caregivers.
All accepted presenters must register for the conference and will be provided a technical facilitator for their session. We are open to and encourage youth participants on application teams when appropriate.
Possible Session Styles
Interactive Workshop (1 hour): We welcome interactive workshops designed to engage participants through dialogue, critical thinking, and physical activity. As these take place virtually, we highly encourage utilizing social tools on Zoom (breakout rooms, shared screen, chat feature, etc.) to enrich the workshop experience. These workshops might offer tools and strategies that participants can immediately apply to their work.
Research/Case Study Presentation (1 hour): We welcome research presentations or case study features that highlight innovative work occurring in the field. We encourage those utilizing this style to find ways to infuse interactive elements into their presentation. We also welcome performance excerpts or teaching demonstrations within these presentations if relevant.
Panel (1 hour): We welcome panel proposals of three or more participants, featuring themes and projects relevant to the conference. Panels may include any combination of artist/educator/scholar/etc. and panel organizers may decide if they wish to supply their own moderator or not.
Other: Have an idea that doesn’t quite fit the above styles? Submit anyway and tell us about it!
DEADLINE EXTENDED: Proposals are due by 11:59pm on Friday, December 17th. Applicants may submit multiple proposals. All proposals will undergo an adjudication process and presenters will be contacted in early January of 2022 about the status of their application. Any questions concerning the application process can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
