Welcome to Splash!, an outdoor, drive-in style performance for very young children and their families that explores the wacky world of water, soap, and bubbles!

How does water like to dance?

What sounds do bubbles make?

Do cars like to take baths?
We will explore these questions (and more!) in a performance directly inspired by the ideas, sounds, and movements of children ages 2-6 in our Play Lab research series. Join our Splash! investigators as they spray water hoses, create giant bubbles, and make a big soapy mess!

May 22 |  10am, 12pm, 2pm

May 23 |  12pm, 2pm

How many tickets should I purchase?

Purchase 1 ticket PER CAR. There are 12 tickets available for each performance.

Wondering what an outdoor, drive-in style performance for very young children and their families looks like?

Splash! performances will be held outdoors where we invite families to pull their vehicles into a socially distanced parking spot. From there, you have two options for how to experience this performance.

Option One: Car Wash

Stay inside your parked vehicle with the windows rolled up and we will send the music and vocals directly into your space through a designated radio station. Think of this option as a silly car wash experience where you can hear and see the performance, but also interact together as a family.

Option Two: Splash Zone

Sit just outside of your parked vehicle within your designated zone and bring your own water-safe seating (like lawn chairs). If you select this option, please note that you are guaranteed to get wet, so wear your water gear and bring towels for comfort on the ride home! If sitting in the Splash Zone, we ask families to follow the CDC guidelines on mask-wearing for all audience members age two and up.

Our choose-what-you-pay ticketing system is non-contact, so tickets must be purchased in advance. Our performers wear masks built into their costumes and maintain appropriate distance between themselves and our audience members at all times. For the interior safety of your vehicle, windows must be rolled up at all times. Please note, that your vehicle will get soap and water on it during the course of the performance, but all of our products are vehicle-safe and will be rinsed off before you depart.

If you have any questions about how our outdoor, drive-in style Theatre and Dance for the Very Young experiences work, please email amanda@lawrenceartscenter.org.

Where are the performances located?
Performances will be held in the large parking lot in front of the old Hy-Vee Grocery Store at 4000 W 6th St, Lawrence, KSUpon arrival, you will enter the space through the entrance directly on 6th street and check in with our ticketing attendant.
