For those who were unable to attend last month’s in person screenings of Searching For La Yarda, Free State Festival is proud to present a free virtual screening and Q&A!

On November 18 at 7pm, you can view the 15minute short film on YouTube at the link below:

Stay tuned after the film for a live Q&A with the filmmakers. The video link of the film + Q&A will remain online through November 30 for those who are not able to join us live.

ABOUT THE FILM:
Local filmmakers Lourdes Kalusha-Aguirre and Marlo Angell capture the story of La Yarda, the housing unit built for Mexican American railroad workers from 1920-51. This 15minute film shares memories by former residents and reveals the lasting impact this special place continues to have on the cultural identity of Lawrence, Kansas.

This film was made possible by grant funding from Humanities Kansas and a partnership with The Percolator Lawrence.
