2017/18 Printmaking Artist-in-Residence
Michael Benedetti is originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has a MFA in Printmaking from The University of Georgia. He has been awarded multiple residencies including Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Colorado and The Academy of Visual Arts in Ghent, Belgium. Michael’s current artwork focuses on identity and the abstraction of emotion through the use of architecture, modular components, and systematic image creation. In order to better understand how our surroundings contribute to the formation of an identity, Michael has thoroughly examined his personal history concerning the architectural interiors that he has inhabited throughout his life, from his childhood home in Pittsburgh to his graduate school apartment in Athens, Georgia.
