‘Printerns’ is a group exhibition featuring Lawrence Arts Center’s two recent printmaking interns, Katie Curry and Stevie Haley Delgado. They have spent the last several months working and learning from the community at the JTSP Print Lab. Both of their recent personal work is focused around illustrations using a variety of mediums, including risograph prints, screenprints, and watercolors. They explore similar elements within their work, including storytelling and their use of color to achieve a specific atmosphere for each illustration.

Katie Curry
Artist + Printmaker + Illustrator She/Her/Hers

Katie Curry is a printmaking-artist and illustrator currently based in Olathe, Kansas and a recent fine arts graduate from KU. Her work is inspired by her love for all kinds of creatures and the outdoors. She likes to create a sense of storytelling in her work and finding beauty in the unknown. She works mainly in screen printing, intaglio, and recently linoleum cuts, but is equally in love with gouache, watercolor painting, and adding 3D elements.

Stevie Haley Delgado
Intermedia Artist She/Her/Hers

Stevie Haley Delgado graduated from Washburn University in the Spring of 2019 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts. Delgado comes from a multicultural family where she learned to appreciate different forms of art from both her latinx and caucasian roots. An intermedia artist whose work focuses on social communications, she uses performative art as well as interactive art in order to communicate with her audience. More recently, Delgado has been able to shift her focus back to illustration, which is where her artistic journey began.
