Free State Festival favorite Barry Crimmins returns to Lawrence to film his one hour comedy special on the Lawrence Arts Center MainStage. Crimmins, who won hearts during last year’s festival with his critically acclaimed film Call Me Lucky, is a political satirist, activist and founder of the legendary Ding Ho Comedy Club. He produced shows, performed in them and helped many great comics by treating them well and encouraging originality. One of those comics was comedian/ filmmaker Louis C.K., whose production company Pig Newton has come on board to produce Crimmins’ latest comedy special. Join us in welcoming Barry Crimmins back to Lawrence, KS and be a part of a televised evening of thought-provoking comedy you’ll not soon forget.

“Over the years, with his biting, acerbic wit, coupled with a sense of compassion rarely seen in standup comedy, Crimmins carved out a spot as the country’s sharpest, left-wing comic, opening tours for like-minded musicians Jackson Browne and Billy Bragg.” –– Jim Sullivan The Artery/ WBUR Boston
