JT Daniels is a social activist who uses his art to support and lift up the community. His murals can be seen throughout Kansas City, adorning the walls of small businesses, streetcar stops, galleries, and local neighborhoods. Most recently he was commissioned to create a mural for the new Merc Coop, and his paintings were included in an exhibit at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. His work weaves together elements including characters and phrases into streamlined designs that represent the heartbeat of the urban community. Overlapping faces and figures within the illustrations are visual representations of people Daniels has interacted with. These conversations and interactions become the compositions that signify the always transforming and growing human experience. This exhibition will pull together mediums and styles Daniels has explored during his career.
