Join us for an evening with artist Kathy Suprenant as she gives an in-depth look at her exhibition, Lens as a Metaphor!

Kathy Suprenant grew up in the village of Hudson Falls, NY, near the Vermont border and the entrance to the Adirondack State Park. Kathy is proud to be a first-generation college graduate with degrees from the State University of New York at Albany and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Before settling in Lawrence, Kansas, she worked on both coasts at the Marine Biological Lab in Woods Hole, MA and the University of California in Santa Barbara. Kathy is a former Chairperson of the Department of Molecular Biosciences and a Professor Emerita from the University of Kansas.

Now that she is retired and no longer teaching or running a research lab, she spends her time making artwork informed and influenced by her scientific training. Her formal art training is from the Adult Education classes offered at the Lawrence Art Center and many hours of watching YouTube videos. She regularly exhibits around the country in juried and solo shows. Her work is featured in international publications and included in museum and private collections.
