Join us for an evening with artist, Hollie Rice, as she gives an in-depth look at her solo exhibition, Holliewood.

Hollie Rice is a ceramic artist and educator living and working in Shawnee, Kansas. She has been teaching at the Lawrence Arts Center for nearly 20 years. She loves to share her passion for ceramics by teaching others about clay. She makes both functional and sculptural work, and firing wood kilns is one of her favorite pastimes.

For Hollie, creating things is as essential to her survival as breathing. She loves to explore. She is continuously soaking up knowledge and expanding her mind. She strives to create approachable things. She has often discovered that her sense of humor has found its way into her work. Hollie finds value in lightheartedness and simple things. She attempts to make unpretentious objects that possess beauty on multiple levels. She has many ideas and uses multiple materials. Her favorite days are those she gets to spend in her studio. No matter what Hollie creates, she always tries her best.
