Eric Anderson, PhD

Professor and Chair, Indigenous and American Indian Studies, Haskell Indian Nations University

Eric P. Anderson is a Professor and Chair of the Indigenous and American Indian Studies Department at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas. In his position at Haskell Indian Nations University, Dr. Anderson teaches, develops curriculum, sponsors student groups, and organizes community outreach programs. His major research focus is on American Indian education, especially the system of federal boarding schools established for Native youth in the late nineteenth century. He is currently at work on a book about the history of Haskell Institute, as well as a textbook project on American Indian Studies and Native history. His broader interests include American History, specializing in American Indian cultures and the history of the United States West. Dr. Anderson is an enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation.
