Join us for a celebration of the quirky creativity that makes Lawrence unique and help the Lawrence Arts Center make up for cuts in City funding for the arts at the same time! With a stellar lineup of local bands, an outdoor circus performance by Sihka Ann Destroy and the Last Carnival Acrobats, food vendors including Port Fonda and Drasko’s, and beer by Crown Distributors and Boulevard Brewing Co., this is an evening to rejoice in Lawrence’s creative spirit.
Schedule of Events:
5:00pm–Triptychs: HANG12 Youth Curatorial Board exhibition in the University of Kansas’ moCOLLAB, parked outside the Lawrence Arts Center.
5:45pm–Mad Kings: Featuring Scott Splawn, Sgt. Dondo Hosking, John Cutler, Randy Fitzgerald, Chris Teasley on lead guitar and Lauren Sullivan & Sara Teasley on backing vocals.
7 pm–“Spark”: A Theatrical Cirque Experience, featuring Sihka Ann Destroy and The Last Carnival Acrobats.
8 pm–Molly Gene, One Whoaman Band: The Missouri-based singer-songwriter is back bringing independence to a whole new level.
9 pm–The Quivers: Featuring Tara Skaggs, Todd Grantham, Chris Teasley, and Bernie Dugan, playing their own take on 60’s Retro Rock.
Entry is free with a suggested donation of $5/person for those who can afford to help us keep LFK creative!
Can’t make it on Friday night? Sihka Ann Destroy’s circus school students will be performing two all-ages shows (3:00pm and 8:00 pm) on Saturday, October 1st on the Lawrence Arts Center’s main stage. With aerial dance, partner acrobatics, and group contortion, this is carnival fun for the entire family! Tickets are just $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.
