Join us to close Judith G. Levy’s exhibition, which includes the video installation titled Among the Trees.

Among the Trees is an installation created from found 35 mm slides and from edited found drone video that explores the range of the relationships we have with trees. The images move from small-scale intimacies to large-scale environmental disaster. In the first part, trees play a significant role in our personal lives and are part of family portraits, provide shade for picnics and provide a landscape for homes and parks. In the second set, the trees are observed by many amateur photographers and seen as objects of beauty or interest. The third part is comprised of edited drone video of the California fires of 2018. While this imagery is devastating, it is also more abstract, suggesting that our relationship with the trees is a more distant one, when it comes to environmental policy and practice.

200 found 35mm slides from the 1940s to the ‘70s, found drone video, total project is14:51 minutes, 2019
