Calling All Singers, Dancers, and Actors 5th Grade and Up, + Adults!
Celebrate the sights and sounds of spring in South Park with this outdoor cabaret production. Pull up a picnic blanket, grab a camping chair, and come along on a musical journey growing out of the darkness and into the light. Enjoy selections from Dear Evan Hansen, Beetlejuice, 13, Fun Home, Mean Girls, and School of Rock.
How Do I Audition?
1.Learn 16 bars of a Broadway or pop song.

Virtual Auditions: Feb. 8-25
Cast List Posted: March 5
Hybrid Rehearsals: March 15-April 23
Performances: April 24

Where and when are rehearsals?
Depending on weather and conflicts, rehearsals will be held outdoors at South Park in the far North East corner of the park and on ZOOM. Rehearsals begin March 15 and will go through April 23. Rehearsals will be held Mondays through Thursdays from 5:30-8pm and Sundays 3-6pm. Rehearsal times and days will vary for each performer and not all performers will be called at all times.
Where and when are performances?
Performances will be held Saturday, April 24th at South Park at our new outdoor stage. Please reserve our rain date for Sunday, April 25th.
When and where will the cast list be posted?
The cast list will be posted Friday, March 5 on our website: https://lawrenceartscenter.org/upcoming-auditions/ Each family/performer will also receive an email on Friday, March 5th outlining the rehearsal schedule and details of the production.
Does everyone get cast?
While we wish to cast everyone who auditions, due to COVID safety numbers we will have a cap of 20 to 25 total performers for this production.
How much is enrollment?
The participation fee is $110 per student, for 5th graders -12th graders. We have financial aid available. If interested, contact Elizabeth at firstname.lastname@example.org
Do adults have to enroll?
No, ages 18+ do not need to enroll.

What are your COVID safety protocols? Will we be wearing masks for rehearsals and performances?
Safety is the most important thing to us. To ensure the health and wellness of students, staff, guests and performers alike, we ask that you adhere to our safety guidelines. And of course, the following are subject to change based on the current health guidelines outlined by Douglas county.
Masks: Properly worn masks, over nose and mouth, will be required for all students, guests, staff, and performers for all rehearsals and performances. All performers will wear a mask with a small head microphone underneath for performances.
Student, Performer, and Staff Wellness Screenings: All students, performers, and staff will complete daily health screenings and temperature checks prior to participating in any event or activity. Anyone reporting symptoms will not attend rehearsals or performances.
Weather for Rehearsals: In the event of inclement weather, you will be emailed when rehearsals are pushed to a ZOOM format. Please note that we are tracking the weather and will determine each day if the combination of temperature, wind chill, rain, snow, and other weather elements are appropriate for students and performers.
Rehearsals Group Sizes: We will cast and select songs and dances dependent on the number of total cast members. We will mainly work on numbers that are solos, duets, trios, or small groups. There may be one larger group number. 6 feet or more will be kept for all blocking at all times.
Outdoor, Socially Distanced Performances: Audience members will be seated in small pods (max 6 people) in South Park lawn. Pods will be spaced out at least 10-12 feet apart. Masks are required for all audience members and should be worn properly.
Weather for Performances: In the event of inclement weather, you will be emailed or called about event postponement or pushing the event to a virtual experience. Please note that we are tracking the weather and will determine each day if the combination of temperature, wind chill, rain, snow, and other weather elements are appropriate for our performers and audience members. If we decide the weather does not comply to our standards, you will be emailed or called about event postponement or pushing the event to a virtual experience.
Changing Health Conditions: Group/mass gathering sizes are subject to change based on the current health guidelines outlined by Douglas county. If group/mass gathering sizes change and cannot fit our current plans, you will be emailed about event postponement or pushing the event to a virtual experience.
