Calling youth dancers and adults to audition for The Nutcracker, A Kansas Ballet!

This production is based on E.T.A. Hoffman’s original story and set in Lawrence, Kansas during the Civil War era. This ballet production tells the story of how Drosselmeyer and Clara liberate the Nutcracker from the clutches of the Mouse King. This family production is for audiences of all ages. Be a part of this winter seasonal favorite! Auditions are September 16-17.

Auditioning for the production is FREE but pre-registration online by Sept. 14 is required. Audition applicants are asked to arrive 30 minutes prior to their audition time and dress wearing appropriate dance attire. Applicants do not need to prepare any material prior to the audition, but youth applicants must be at least 1st grade and in Intro to Ballet-VII classes at the Arts Center. There are no requirements for adults.

Saturday, September 16:
11:00 AM: Ballet IV-Va, Teens Ballet (will not include a segment of pointe work)

12:00 PM: Intro to Ballet, Ballet I

2:00 PM: Ballet II-III

3:30 PM: Ballet Vb-VII (will include optional segment of pointe work)

Sunday, September 17:
2 PM: Adults Eligible roles: Party Adults, Lawrencians, Mother Ginger

3 PM: Call Backs **Those considered for a lead role may be requested to attend Call Backs.**

Rehearsals:
Attending all rehearsals is required. For Ballet I-III, choreography is taught during weekly ballet classes and weekend rehearsals.
Regular rehearsals scheduled Sat/Sun, Oct. 21-Nov. 19, 12-6:30 pm
Brush-up rehearsal scheduled Mon-Fri, Nov. 27-Dec. 1, 4:30-8:30 pm
Full cast tech rehearsal, Sat-Thur, Dec 2-7, Time TBA

Performances: 
December 8 | 7 pm
December 9 | 2 pm, 7 pm
December 10 | 1 pm, 5 pm

Enrollment required after cast list is released: FDNUT, $165.00 enrollment fee, no fee for adults and Lawrence Ballet Theatre. Production Enrollment due by October 6.
