Dear Students and Families,

We miss you! Not being surrounded by our creative community this last week has made finding our way through this “new normal” especially difficult.

We believe in the power of the arts to sustain our communities and keep us connected, especially in times of difficulty. We recognize this public health crisis as more than an emergency of the medical kind. This emergency is a challenge to all that holds us together.

Therefore, instead of calling it quits during the closure of our building, we’ve decided to embrace our sense of invention and flex our creative muscles by bringing the arts to you through virtual experiences. While some programming will be reduced, we are committed to continuing programs as much as they can, wherever they can, outside of a physical experience. Where we are able, we will offer classes online. Whenever possible, we will live stream performances. When we have the opportunity, we will broadcast artist talks and give virtual tours of exhibitions. Whenever we find them, we will share creative resources, information and stories on our website, social media, youtube channel and whatever useful platforms we can find. This will be as new for us as it will be for you, but we are choosing this path because we know that the arts are irreplaceable in our education, our social connections and our personal well-being. As we move into this virtual space, how we do things might be different, but the “why” is still the same.

For those enrolled families, while we are not currently able to offer the class you signed up for as a virtual experience, your account will be automatically credited. Inquiries about receiving a refund should be directed to Linda Reimond at In the next week, we will be offering a selection of performances and events as virtual experiences on our website and social media accounts. We invite you to join us on these new adventures.

We will miss seeing returning children and meeting new ones at our spring classes. You can find some Arts Center early childhood news and activities here on our website. There are songs, stories and printable at home activity options. We will keep adding new content frequently. We will be waiting for you to come to Lawrence Arts Center soon.

Because the Arts Center and our instructors rely on your support, we ask that you consider donating your tuition to help us continue programs online during this time. If this is something you would like to do, please contact Jennifer at All donations are tax deductible.

We are flexible, creative and focused on continuing to be a creative center for our community. We hope to emerge from this experience in true Lawrence style; healthy, hardy and better than ever. We’re looking forward to seeing you, in-person, soon.

Until then,
Margaret Weisbrod Morris, CEO and Linda Reimond, Director of Early Childhood Education
