Sances’s 50-foot scratchboard whale currently encompasses the entire wall of the Arts Center large gallery and has captivated viewers with its intricate depictions of capitalism in America and the human and environmental exploitation in its wake. In this very special Final Friday virtual event, Sances will be joined by internationally acclaimed Herman Melville scholar/ KU Professor Emeritas Elizabeth Schultz for a thoughtful conversation exploring the themes represented in the artwork as well as its connections to the literary masterpiece, Moby-Dick, Or, The Whale.
