Tired of hanging out in your backyard? Us too. Drive-in for a Father’s Day concert at the Douglas County Fairgrounds with musical tallgrass troubadour Sky Smeed on the new fairgrounds stage!

The inspiration and subject matter of Kansas musician Sky Smeed runs the gamut, but he cites a common thread throughout: hope. The Chanute native has been making an annual tour of small Kansas towns for more than 15 years, but these days his travels take him to bars, clubs, festivals, and listening rooms from California to Carolina. This independent recording and performing artist says the first music he heard was that of Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Van Morrison and Merle Haggard, but his influences include rock, blues, hip-hop, rap, folk and country. Smeed is recognized for his effortless, country-tinged tunes of working hard, dogs, love, money, beer, coffee, and the call of the road.
