Celebrate Langston Hughes’s birthday with a reading reception for Langston Hughes Creative Writing Award winners!

Co-sponsored by The Raven Book Store and the Lawrence Arts Center, supported by the Thomas D. Galloway Family, the award honors the work of Hughes, who spent his childhood in Lawrence, Kansas. Each year, the award is given to two writers to encourage and support Douglas County residents who continue in Hughes’ tradition of portraying life experience through poetry and prose.

A reading of Creative Writing Award Winners work will be held on Langston Hughes’ 120^th birthday, 7pm Thursday, February 1st, 2022 at the Lawrence Arts Center.

This event is free and open to the public.

To attend in-person, masks are required in addition to proof of full vaccination or recent negative COVID test.
