Join us for the first Children’s Shelter art show! We’ve collected stunning artwork from the children and families served by our agency. Pieces will be on display in the lower lobby of the Lawrence Arts Center from November 21 through December 19.

RECEPTION Monday, December 17 from 5 to 7pm

The mission of The Children’s Shelter is to improve the lives of children and families, with a focus on children at-risk in Douglas County and northeast Kansas. The agency, previously known as The Shelter, Inc., has been providing emergency services to youth since 1981 through our flagship residential program. The Shelter currently operates two residential group homes for children who have been removed from their homes as a result of law enforcement or court action. The Shelter also provides several voluntary prevention programs focused on strengthening families and preventing court involvement. In addition, The Children’s Shelter provides family foster, adoptive, and kinship care services including training and placement coordination.

This project displays pieces from youth and families served by The Children’s Shelter. Artists include children in care, foster parents, and their families.
