Nate Phelps is the son of Fred Phelps and was raised in the Westboro Baptist Church until he escaped at midnight on his 18th birthday.

Nate will speak about the extreme physical and psychological abuse that he and his siblings endured growing up, as well as the prevalence of hate in our culture.  From being indoctrinated with extreme religious beliefs and beaten with a mattock handle to becoming an LGBTQ activist and a public speaker on the topics of religion and child abuse, Nate’s story is ultimately one of perseverance and hope.

The presentation will be followed by a Q & A session. Two other Phelps children, Mark and Dortha, will also be present at the event. Brand new video clips from Not My Father’s Child, an upcoming feature-length documentary about the lives of Nate, Dortha and Mark Phelps, will also be shown. This event will be filmed for use in the documentary. Proceeds from the event will go toward the production of the documentary.
