A Letter from Andria – Interim Director of Early Childhood Education

Dear friends and families,

Linda Reimond has dedicated 35 years to creating, building and growing the early childhood education department, and her retirement is right around the corner. I feel so fortunate to have had such a mentor for the last 10 years. I have been soaking up Linda’s magic, and sprinkling in my own pixie dust along with way. In August I will be stepping into the role of Interim Director of Early Childhood Education. I am so very excited and honored to guide our amazing team and continue teaching, playing, creating and honoring childhood at the Lawrence Arts Center.

As the Interim Director, I thought it would be fun to do an old fashioned Q & A – early childhood style of course. These are actual questions I have been asked, and the answers I have given, while teaching at the Lawrence Arts Center.

  1. A woman sits in a box as another woman looks on.What is your favorite dinosaur?
My favorite dinosaur is a Brontosaurus – I love its really long neck.
  2. Do you have kids?
I do! I have two boys, Sean and Conor. Sean is 19 and Conor is 17.
  3. What do unicorns eat?
Pancakes with rainbow sprinkles of course!
  4. What is your favorite color?
My favorite color is turquoise, but I love rainbow just as much.
  5. Do you sleep at the Arts Center?
I don’t, I sleep at home with my family and pets.
  6. Do you have any pets?
We do. We have a girl yellow dog and a boy black and white cat.
  7. Have you ever eaten a bug?
    I don’t know – maybe by accident.
  8. What is your favorite animal?
This is hard because I love all kinds of animals. Flamingos, sloths (I’ve touched a sloth. They aren’t very soft.), dolphins, sea turtles (I once watched newly hatched Kemp Ridley turtles make their way safely into the sea.), and meerkats. I really like animals.
  9. What kind of whipped cream do you want on your sand pie?
The spoon kind or the “pppsssccchhhhh” kind? Always the “pppsssccchhhhh” kind!
  10. Why are you my teacher?
I am your teacher because I love playing with you and my favorite part is watching you learn new things.

I am looking forward to this new adventure and can’t wait to see you all soon!

With love,
