Whether you’re looking for the fundamentals or to be inspired by innovative techniques, we’ve got it all! This summer, the Adult Arts department is offering two new drawing classes along with our classics that we offer year-round.

What’s New:

Drawing: Instructor Remix, June 7 – July 26, Wednesdays 5:30PM-7:30PM, $220 ($198)

This class is a survey of drawing & painting taught by four instructors. Each instructor will teach a two week section in their areas of expertise. If you want different points of view or just love to draw and paint, this class is for you. All levels welcome! Enroll HERE

Drawing Loose w/ Matthew Lord, June 6 – August 1, Tuesdays 7:30PM-9:30PM, $190 ($171)

This class will introduce students to a variety of individual and group drawing activities that emphasize looseness, embrace spontaneous mark-making, explore media, and let go of perfection. Enroll HERE

LAC Classics:

Beginning Drawing w/ Matthew Lord, June 6 – August 1, Tuesdays 5:30PM-7PM, $170 ($153)

This class invites students of all levels to begin learning how to train the eyes and hands together. Observe and translate real objects into a two-dimensional drawing, render light and shadow, and delve into basic color theory. Enroll HERE

Drawing Lawrence: Feathers & Fur w/ Kent Smith, June 9 – July 28, Fridays 9AM-11AM, $220 ($198)

What has beaks, talons, and scales all over? Lawrence, of course! Merge feral and fine art in this sketchbook safari, traveling to a new location and drawing new creatures every week! This class will focus on observational drawing, anatomy, value and texture, gestural mark making, and composition. Enroll HERE

Life Drawing & Anatomy for the Artist w/ Jeff Ridgway, June 8 – August 10, Thursdays 7PM-9:30PM, $270 ($243)

Students learn to draw the human figure, working from a live model and using various drawing media. No photographic devices allowed. Enroll HERE

Open Model w/ Jeff Ridgway, June 4 – August 6, Sundays 1PM-3PM, $230 ($207)

This class provides an opportunity for skilled artists to draw a model each week using their choice of media. The models will do quick gesture poses at the beginning of each session and then a longer pose for the group. This class is not for beginners. Enrollees must provide their own art supplies.
