Summer Camps & Films

Summer Dance Film Project

COMMUNITY DANCE FILM

Directed by Ric Averill

Choreographed by Eleanor Goudie- Averill

Inspired by the “Harlem Shake,” a dance that was created by a Harlem dancer Al. B. in the early 1980s when it became a global phenomenon celebrating its wild energy and enthusiasm. This film seeks to assemble a collection of Lawrence movers of all- ages. Participants will be part of the creative process and require no prior dance experience. This will be an Averill- Arts Center experience you won’t want to miss! Enroll here

Rehearsals will be held between July 6th and August 7th. The film will premiere online on August 27th.

Summer PerfromaDancExplorium – Charlotte’s Web with Paige Comparato & Shannon Pickett

Join us in the studio and at the South Park outdoor stage as we explore E. B. White’s tender tale of the wise spider Charlotte and her quest to save Wilbur the pig. In this magical barnyard adventure, participants will weave together dances, costumes, and sets that celebrate the extraordinary friendships and acts of bravery on Zuckerman’s farm. The second week of this camp will be held outside at the South Park outdoor stage with a final performance on Thursday, June 24 at 10:00 am. Don’t miss this terrific, radiant production! Register here!

This camp will be held Monday – Thursday 9:00am-11am June 14th- June 24th.

Lawrence Ballet Theatre Company

Lawrence Ballet Theatre (LBT) is the resident pre-professional ballet company of the Lawrence Arts Center. The mission of Lawrence Ballet Theatre is to provide extensive training and performance opportunities, and to broaden connections to the dance community. Led by Artistic Director Cynthia Crews, company members gain exposure and experience through numerous performances of classical ballet repertoire and original works. LBT dancers work directly with professional guest choreographers in addition to their work with the artistic director. Lawrence Ballet Theatre is a member company of the prestigious Regional Dance America/MidStates. Each year, Lawrence Ballet Theatre attends the annual RDA/Midstates Festival held in various cities across the Midwest.

Auditions are held each year for company members and apprentices. To be considered for LBT, applicants must attend a formal audition.

More information here. Pre-registration is required. The deadline to register online is June 30. Pre-register here
