It’s Time to Blossom with the School of Dance this Spring

 

March 15-21 | Winter Session Final Showings (virtual only) 

Winter session classes are ending this week! On the final day of class during the week of March 15-21,  families and caregivers are invited to attend virtually for the last 10-15 minutes of class, via zoom, through the Virtual Dance Portal. If your student participates virtually, they will be showcased along with the students attending in- person. We hope that this will provide you an opportunity to see what your dancers have been working on in class!

March 22 |  First day of Spring Session Classes

The first day of spring classes is almost here! Remember, enrollment is still happening, so keep enrolling in classes! Visit the School of Dance Webpage here, to check out our Spring Session classes.

March 21 & March 28 | Enrollment for Summer Classes, Camps, & Programs 

Summer Session enrollment for members opens March 21, and open registration begins March 28! Check out the School of Dance homepage here to browse classes, camps, and programs for Summer 2021! You will find the Summer Catalog on the website!

 

March 28 | Carmine Ballere Scholarship Audition 

Established in 1997, the Carmine Ballere Scholarship is awarded to students who have demonstrated excellence and commitment in dance. Encouraging the study of ballet and a lifelong devotion to dance, the scholarship covers the cost of four ballet and pointe classes per week, as well as all production and participation fees during the Fall 2021/Spring 2022 semesters. The awardees are required to serve as teacher’s assistants for one Preschool/Kinder class per week, and must currently be enrolled in Ballet IV-VII to audition. May 14 & 15 | End of Year Showcase 

Select youth and adult classes are invited to perform in the End of Year Showcases held  outside, on the 940 New Hampshire Street Stage, on May 14-15. This annual event celebrates the achievement of the School of Dance students through senior solos and class-based performances. Students enrolled in youth classes are required to confirm their participation at the time of class enrollment. Deadline to modify student performer status at no cost is April 1st. Any performer status changes after April 1st will result in a $25 fee. 

Student participation is free and includes one complimentary ticket to the primary caregiver.

June & July | Lawrence Dance Intensive 

Junior Intensives

Session I: June 7 – 11

Session II: July 12 – 16

Senior Intensives 

Session I: June 28 – July 2

Session II: August 2 – 6 

Since 2016, the Lawrence Dance Intensive has provided quality artistic and development opportunities to dancers across the region with accomplished faculty, guest artists, and choreographers. This summer, it returns to host a series of one-week summer programs for ballet dancers ages 10 to 18 years in the Lawrence Arts Center dance studios. Based on a diverse and well-balanced curriculum, this program is designed to develop the artists of tomorrow.  Check out the webpage here for more information! 

 


As we navigate through this semester together, please stay diligent by taking all safety precautions for the health of everyone. We ask that you follow these measures if you plan to visit the Lawrence Arts Center or take classes in-person:

  1. Conduct COVID-19 Self-Screening prior to or upon entering the building.

  1. Minimize presence while inside the building. No congregating in hallways or main public areas of the building.
