The weather outside may be frightful, but kids’ theatre and performance classes at the Arts Center are so delightful! We have a handful of fun classes, activities and events slated to begin in the next week – just in time to pull you out of these winter doldrums.
Exploratorium!
Give your K through 4th grade child the opportunity to explore space, light, and sound through Exploratorium, a fantastical place where all things are possible! These Saturday sessions are offered from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in either in-person or virtual experiences week by week.
The first session, February 13, is Creature Creation, a virtual class inviting children to develop an imaginary character of their very own, and then dream up the world their new character inhabits!
The next Exploratorium event is February 20. Winter Wonderland, is an in-person opportunity to investigate the weather that February brings and all the ways we can move, dance, and play in a winter wonderland!
The final event of the month will be a virtual experience on February 27. Super Skill Triathlon will test each student’s strength, speed, and problem-solving as they move through superhero training and document their skills on graphs and charts!

Drop-In Voice Workshop
Quarantine has limited many opportunities for young singers. If your child’s interest lies in vocal development or just in enjoying a little time to sing with others, check out our virtual Drop-In Voice Workshops! These workshops for 4th through 12th grade students are offered from 3 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays in February, March and April. Sign up for one or sign up for all of them – they are like small private group lessons right in your home!
These sessions are the perfect opportunity for a student to pop in for an afternoon and warm up their voice, test out audition material, ask voice-related questions, and sing with others. These are small group sessions, so feel free to team up with a group of friends and join us for as many sessions as you’d like!

Page to Stage
Another virtual opportunity to activate your child’s imagination is Page to Stage! These classes for children grades 1 through 4 explore popular chapter books by bringing the stories to life. Sessions are on Saturdays from 1:30 to 2:30 and are two weeks each.
Our first selection, Astrid & Apollo and the Starry Campout, begins February 13. Don’t miss out on the chance to follow these twin siblings as they build fantastic campouts, battle curious raccoons, and find bravery in exploring unknown places.

School’s Out Workshops
Our School’s Out Workshops are a great way to keep your students engaged and entertained even when school is not in session! These virtual workshops invite students to use their imaginations, musical talents, and comedic timing – just to name a few!
Our first two sessions take place Friday, February 12, and are both open to students in K through 5th grade.
Comedy Clown Cafe: This is not your average cafe. Filled with unexpected catastrophes and customers who find everything hilarious, class at this cafe will teach you how to serve your jokes right to your audience.
10 a.m. – Noon
Welcome to Magic Academy: Work with your fellow sorcerers to craft scenes filled with spells, powers, and potions. Once you are enrolled in Magic Academy, be prepared to use stage combat and acting to bring magic to life.
