In an effort to reach young people safely and creatively during the pandemic, the Arts Center has created a variety of all-supplies-included Art Kits in the areas of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), early childhood and dance. And while these kits have been available for purchase throughout the summer and fall, they will now be made available FREE of cost to those who need them the most thanks to generous sponsors like CEK Insurance and Auto-Owners Insurance. With the holidays just around the corner, the timing is especially meaningful!
Through our new Kits for Kids program, art kits will be given to children in our community through partnering organizations: Centro Hispano, Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence, The Willow Domestic Violence Center, Communities in Schools and O’Connell Youth Ranch (pictured below).
Packed with fun activities, curriculum guides and colorful supplies, these boxes of creativity will provide hours of hands-on art experiences. Studies have long shown that the arts play an important role in combatting isolation, fostering self-expression and instilling confidence in people of all ages. With the current health crisis putting many children at risk for mental health challenges, access to the arts for youth is even more important now than ever.
Thanks to sponsors like CEK Insurance and Auto-Owners Insurance, we are so happy to open the lid to creativity and invite you to share art with your friends, neighbors and community members this holiday season and into 2021!
