Drive In Concert Musician Spotlight: Elexa Dawson & CS Luxem

Two protraits - one of a woman and one of a man holding a small dog.

I Heart Local Music recently produced a wonderful concert series of local musicians in community spaces during quarantine, including the Arts Center! On September 6, two of the performers featured in this video-Elexa Dawson & CS Luxem-will be on stage at the Douglas County Fairgrounds for our next drive-in concert. Check out this video and get excited for Labor Day weekend!

Elexa Dawson  |  elexadawson.com

Musical storyteller & citizen Potawatomi Nation tribal member Elexa Dawson presents a sultry, spirited performance with an abundant repertoire of original music and a “warm honey mixed with prairie dirt” voice.  Her newest album, “Music is Medicine” (Lost Cowgirl Records, Dec 2019) debuts Elexa’s solo career with community-centered songs that inspire, instigate and heal. “High Place” charted #6 on Indigenous Music Countdown.  Elexa also plays with the bands, Weda Skirts and Heyleon.

CS Luxem  |  Indie/folk/psych  |  csluxem.bandcamp.com

A solo artist as well as a collaborator CS Luxem has performed all over the United States and Europe.  His music blends sounds of soul, pop, folk, indie, and psych. Whatever he plays, it is sure to create a powerful mood.  He’s known to dive bomb a pop song into a punk freakout or bring the vibe down to a whisper nonchalantly in the same set and that level of dynamic can make it hard to take your eyes off of him.
